A good way to to promote the video content as much as possible thru yt ads and acquire subs
In video ask to subscribe 2 to 3 times by telling the benefits or use subscribe button animations
Depends on what topic you choose, people love Entertainment, Food and Controversies. Other topics will grow slowly in my opinion.

Shorts are very good right now youtube is pushing hard for it to battle TikTok that means you get a lot of impressions quickly. You can get some subscribers but the views it doesn't count toward watch time. But it helps build authority I think and collect some subscribers.
There are some blackhat ways using list and stuff the viet and russia channels use those. I think they got a bunch of bots running too to build up steam. Some of their channels grow up to millions of subscribers within a month. Some people say keep spamming videos on youtube till you get traction too. But it takes a lot of time if your editing and producing content yourself so I dunno if that is an option. But I think youtube is just like SEO it takes a long time to get traction. The most important thing on youtube is probably clickbait and how long you can keep the user watching the content. If you can get your video high ctr and high retention your video will rank in the suggested.

yes, maybe it's still possible now but gradually the youtube algorithm is always updating, like the NYC backsound used to be free usage, now someone is subject to copyright
