Hello,

I have been jobless since the rise of the Covid and during the lockdown, I've learnt WordPress, Elementor, DIVI and basic HTML/ CSS. I would say my designs are okay since I was a Graphic Designer.

I have an interview (Web Designer) next week and my main worry is I never had any clients. All of my Web Design work are imaginary mockups.

I come out with a plan that might deceive my interviewer but I would like to have some advice.

  1. Buy 2 to 3 new domains
  2. Design new websites for the domain.
  3. During the interview I will claim I am the Webmaster for those existing clients (Lie)
May I know is my plan good enough to hide the fact that I never had clients? I do not wish to let my interviewer know I am inexperienced in Web Design.

Thanks

I thought about your strategy again and thought to myself...... Why even make the sites at all?

Can't you just find a couple of small businesses, just say that you made their website and save yourself a lot of time?

As long as it's not too advance of a website Im pretty sure the manager won't have the time/energy to verify your credentials given all the resumes/interviews he's got to get through.

From my experience, all the best senior managers hire people based on character connection/synergy rather than skillsets, as with the right hire any skills can be developed/trained.

If it was me, I would place my focus on that.

Best of luck brotha and be sure to update us after you knock the interview out of the park! ✊

True...

I think I will try to get some actual work done asap. I might have some contacts from my ex co-workers.
I will follow your advice.

Thank you very much mate :)
