Details from more than 500 million Facebook users have been found available on a website for hackers. The information appears to be several years old, but it is another example of the vast amount of information collected by Facebook and other social media sites, and the limits to how secure that information is. The availability of the data set was first reported by Business Insider. According to that publication, it has information from 106 countries including phone numbers, Facebook IDs, full names, locations, birthdates, and email addresses.

The personal information of about half a billion Facebook users, including their phone numbers, have been posted to a website used by hackers, cybersecurity experts say.
There are records for more than 32 million accounts in the United States, 11 million in the United Kingdom, and 6 million in India, according to Alon Gal, the CTO of cyber intelligence firm Hudson Rock.
Details in some cases include full name, location, birthday, email addresses, phone number, and relationship status, he said.

Hudson Rock showed CNN Business the phone numbers of two our senior staff which are included in the database.
The leak was first reported by the news website Insider.
"This is old data that was previously reported on in 2019. We found and fixed this issue in August 2019," Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone told CNN Saturday.

They know more about yourself then you do.
yes, they know each and every detail about you. Where you eat, hangout, what you like, what you purchase, what you do. They have made a whole virtual identity of you, which can used to serve you creepy advertisements, products, they sell this information multiple times. This is a business for them that's why apple trying to change their ios policies.
Facebook is soon making it's hardware for tv, so that they can control everything.
Companies like facebook, instagram should be vanish from internet.

Agree 200% with @imraxstar . Facebook and google share user data between them. Its a win win situation for them as their primary source of revenue is advertising. The more user data they have, they can create virtual profiles to serve you ads. The irony is that it is not only these tech giants who are playing with your personal data but Banks, Insurance companies everybody sell and buy data. Your personal data is a cash cheque for these companies which can be encashed anytime and everytime.
