How to password protect and reveal a Nav Menu item?

Hello, not even sure this is possible without having someone log into your site via wordpress, but I figured I’d ask you WP Gurus.

What I’m trying to do is have a Nav menu be password protected, so that nothing will be displayed until you enter the correct password. I’ve tried a few plugins and they dont do what I need so far. I figured maybe someone has done this before.

Ideally what I’d like to have is the nav menu be visible to the users, they click and are presented with a password menu they enter the correct password and now the user can see the dropdown content items they now have access to.

Now I have password protected the content itself, but having that on each item is not very user friendly, having a pass-gate to the content seems more ideal, if I could just figure it out.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, this would be perfect if the users logged into the site with wordpress, but this is more of a content restriction. They don’t want to have the users login, just to be able to enter a password and gain access to the content thats in the dropdown menu,

Thanks I will just probably end up password protecting the pages until I figure something out.
