I thought so too but doubted it when i saw it didn't got an update for 7-8 years...is it really a required plugin? becaz on jnews dashboard plugin page, it syas it is required... and i am new to jnews.

It is a required plugin, the Soledad theme requires it too.

Yes it is an old plugin, however if some require it you have to use it.

Here is an old post asking about it too, have a read as it will tell you everything you need to know about it.

As mentioned in the above thread you linked...the plugin itself is not getting updated by vafpress but theme author made custom changes to the plugin to make it compatible with the latest theme versions...so i feel like getting the plugin inside the theme zip is mandatory too.
