Every change comes with a risk and a potential reward. Only you can decide if you decide out of fear or love.

Are you going to stay and avoid a potential risk or are you going to peruse what you love, not knowing the outcome.

Most people feel better when they decide out of love, even if they fail.

Do what makes you feel you, a better person, see if that what you want to do, is what your higher self wants, ask yourself simply why should you make a change and do it.

I am nearly 60 now (sh**!!!) and have always believed you should do something you actually really enjoy. That way you are generally happy working (not always!). Long term it works though.

So, if data science and programming is what you really like, I'd say GO FOR IT! :)

I'm literally watching suits while I write this, so you profile pic got me to reply.

My opinion is that if you love computers go for it. If it's just for the money it won´t work.

Good luck anyways! And remember, you can't make a mistake. That's not possible in this world. ;)

If you really like data science go for it.
But please keep in mind that it will take time to master nearly 2 to 3 years if you manage to give 4 hours a day.
If you are serious about it message me, I will give you all video courses on data science .

Hello @zodiacfire , I am in my forty, and start learning new things that I like to serve more my community.

Know yourself, know your passion, find your why? Money is not the first answer of the why, your joy in doing what you do with your passion is more important than this paper...but you have bills to pay so you need balanced-life.
Please DM/PM me for more guidance about career orientation or/and change career management coaching for free.

First thing, you have to find your inner self, how deep you know your self.
Find your motive to work, for family, for money, etc. please note, yes... with money you can buy everything but at some point, money cant do more, it is all how you control your mind.
I agree with work with your hobby / interesting, it will make you start doing something with love.
without motive, your spirit will fragile.
Everything in the world is started with MOTIVE.

Then, you decide either work for career in a company or independent professional.
Some people need to work for a company to maintain motivation, but the other can manage themself for self-working.

Data science and programming are good, another computer field also good. you can grow your career in all fields, computer services, software development, graphic design, 3D, web dev, etc.
Above all...everything you do, whatever you choose, do with all your heart and set full faith in it, and throw away your worries and fear, just do positively progress.
then you will find a path, you can stay with that or you can move to another path, but once again...do with all your heart and set full faith in it.

Let me tell you my story related to programming :
6 years ago I fell down to the very bottom, no money even for a cigarette. Then I decided to make sharp turns to mobile app development without any coding language background, I'm economic degree.
Even I have high mileage flight time with internet, design graphics, 3D, video editing, etc, programming field is like dense wilderness for me.
No one teaches me, only uncle google and a cheap internet package.

I surf and jump to here and there, looking for an instant app solution, but all is paid services.
then I decide to learn mobile app programming language, I surf and jump to here and there, ended with cold sweat and despair, so many times.
but I have faith with what I decided, slowly I knew I have to start with html and css first, then javascript or angular for logic.
In this period of time, with my greatest humble and gratitude to sharing forum sites which provide sources I need, at that time I don't know Babiato or not established yet, but now Babiato is one of my daily surf.

Shortly, I investing my months to learn coding languages every night in 7eleven which provide free internet.
and when I finished my code, I only have 2 items to sell, I have to pay rent.
one is my android phone, which I will use to demo my app, second is my laptop which I use for coding. Very hard decision.

I made a list of company to visit before, and I strengthened my heart and faith to go to the list.
On the way to target company, worry and fear haunt me, what if I fail to sell my app? what if my landlord kicked me out, how I make a demo if I sell my phone, my laptop?, etc.
What I do is step into that company and make a demo.
and thank's God I success to sell my app, all my worries and fear all gone, and I can pay rent.

Start from there, my financial is better, I can learn more and more about programming and web dev.

that's all my thought for you. hope you can find your path.

Long live Babiato.

I can vouch that data science has a good scope and there is a lack of efficient professionals in this field. Your personal interest is a bonus, so you will definitely be satisfied once you start working as professional.

CS is always good field and can help you in many ways. I would recommend you to get certified(practical knowledge is more imp) and learn some programming, development skills. Then slowly proceed on whichever attracts you.
These two threads can help you a lot,
