i had the same problem and after digging a little bit deeper, i found out, that freemium is checking for other installs of plugins with freemium sdk.
if so, than that version will be used and in my case i had an not nulled freemius sdk already installed - hence the serial check - after deleting that one it worked.
for example, find out which other plugin with freemium you have - uninstall that one. install page speed optimizer with nulled freemius - reinstall your other plugin .. .when you're lucky, than that one will be nulled too
