websites with less than 300 words per page are considered “thin” by Google's standards and, most likely, won't rank as highly in search.I have some articles in my website that are poor (<500 words) and I think they will affect my ranking. should I no-index them? until I update them later?

Check those articles ranking first before marking them " no-index ". If they are ranking in the top 100 then better to rewrite or add more content.

If they are not ranking in the top 100 positions then you can no-index them.
In my opinion
Simply search with the title of an article on Google or if you want to find a full report then use Ahref or SemRush. Thanks for you reply. one more question: How can I know the rank of an article? Is there an option for that in Google Webmaster or Google Analytics? or is there another tool to do that?
