My question was that if I don't use clouflare CDN service at all and just use the domain to point to a specific server like any other registrar. Is it possible? As per the answer yes it is possible because cloudflare provides us facility to change nameservers. My new host is not supporting cloudflare, that's why I want to use their nameservers without using the services given by cloudflare. Hope you got that.
Thanks a lot! Issue is fixed now, @TrashGirl helped me yesterday to do that. I simply turned off cloudflare dns by clicking orange button. I am struck with cloudflare for 60 days because retransfer can’t be done. But i am now cool with cloudflare as my website works perfectly now.Hi @partjuneja,
I feel your pain this Cloudflare thing is much more complex than what you migth expect.
You have to understand that Cloudflare has 3 basic features (their have more advanced feature but that' not the subject):
1) They are a CDN
2) They are a DNS provider
3) They are a Registrar
So here the different cases:
1) You use Cloudflare CDN but not Cloudflare registrar:
If you want to use Cloudflare CDN you have to use Cloudflare DNS services.
2) You use Cloudflare DNS but not Cloudflare registrar
Now if you use Cloudflare as your DNS provider, you can disable the CDN (you just have to click the orange cloud button that appears on each A Record).
But you still use Cloudflare DNS servers of course.
If you change your mind and don't want to use Cloudflare DNS, you still can go back to your Registrar and enter name servers of any other DNS provider)
3) You use Cloudflare Registrar
If you use Cloudflare Registrar, you have to use Cloudflare DNS on the free offer.
To be able to add your own name servers (As when you enter ns1 and ns2 name servers with other DNS providers) you need the Business subscription.
But of course, you still can disable the CDN feature (click the orange cloud buttons)
In your case it appears you have initiated a registrar transfer to Cloudflare so unless you are prepared to pay for the Bussiness tier, you're stuck with the Cloudflare DNS (you can disable the CDN).
Of course you still can re-transfer your domain to another Registrar, you have to contact Cloudflare support on how to do that (but usually you only have to go to another Registrar and initiate the transfer from there)
Hope that will help remove some confusion (I was pretty confused myself when I first used Cloudflare).
