Disabled Instagram Accounts

Hello Everyone,

I have a strange question, a friend who is an influencer has had there accounts disabled. The stalker has stated they got a hacker to disable all of her accounts. The stalker has also managed to obtain a copy of this persons passport. I believe they are using the copy to state the accounts are impersonating them etc.

First question, can a hacker disable individual Instagram accounts remotely with reverse engineering?

Second question is if they managed to hack it and disable the account would this not flag with Instagram? How do we get the account re-enabled quickly please?

First of all try to contact Instagram about the above mentioned issue and get her/his account back they would definitely help you out. Secondly if the stalker is known to her somehow (if she knows his account or any other details or if she knew the person in personal) ask her to report a complaint with proofs (as mentioned by you the stalker have her passport, so definitely he shown her somewhere or maybe he mentioned it in mail or chat (my assumptioms)) with the local authorities and lodge an FIR against the stalker.

And ofcource in this digital era nothing is 100% secured. So a hacker can get access to system if he found any vulnerability within the system. And there is an another method hackers do is social engineering and phishing (google it to know more). Somehow he had some sort of information though which he accessed her account.

Answering your queries:

1st - Yes, the hacker can disable or can do more than that remotely with reverse engineering, social engineering, phishing, brute forcing and other methods.

2nd - There are millions of account on Instagram, and the system doesn't able to identify if there is no sign of force entry. The system only flags if the account was suspiciously entered by giving wrong inputs multiple times or using wrong passwords multiple times.


Example- say that you logged into your account from a different location with different ip and device. The system will ask few questions (can ask OTP, or security questions etc) if you give all the answer to the system correctly then it will let you login as normal. But if you fails multiple times (say twice or thrice) after that even you entered the correct answer system will mark the account flag for few days unless no complaints were lodge for that account within the said period of time.
