Just need to extract the main download first as includes other things other than just plugin itself.
Also, yes you do need to have core plugin Easy Digital Downloads installed and activated first.
Amazing how many people forget that little detail as these are just addons to the main plugin itself, this member will definitely won't be the last to mention this.
Although the fact that is has Easy Digital Downloads before - Social Login, sort of gives a hint.
