I am probably one of your more "senior citizen" members, born nearly 7 decades ago in the US, graduated from the US Navy's nuclear power program (Jimmy Carter's son was a classmate until he dropped out) and once out of the Navy got a BS in international Business. I owned testing labs in California during the 70's, 80's and 90's and during that period lived and worked (consulting) abroad in different regions of the planet over my lifetime including many years in South America (Argentina, Brazil & Venezuela) as well as a stint in Asia (Singapore & Sumatra) and have finally set roots down here in a tiny, off the grid coastal fishing village along the Pacific side of Baja California, Mexico for the last 20 years.
10 years ago I participated in an abalone restoration project out at San Martin Island - 5 miles offshore - and today we seed Japanese and Kumamoto oysters in our local bay while managing different Facebook groups, pages and websites - all about Baja California - with a fairly decent following now over a half million people.
Basically I am just running out the clock doing what I love most in life with the love of my life - Cristina, by my side - along with our 3 large dogs, 9 cats, solar panels and wind turbine mounted on a home we built in a place where I feel like I am always on vacation. We don't have a billion dollars in assets, but all of this feels even much, much more valuable to me.
I sincerely appreciate this amazing community and all of the help you so generously offer along with the fabulous dedication of so many here who work to keep this place operating. If any of you ever make it down here to La Chorera, outside of San Quintin I'll invite you to try some of our super fresh oysters and seafood at our small restaurant on the bay here, just down the road from our home.
