For me, the best way to check WP plugins is:
  1. Create a WP project
  2. Install Wordfence
  3. Install the plugin
  4. Make a scan with Wordfence
  5. Check the difference with the official plugin

Having knowledge about security, anyone can tell that it is malicious code or not, just by looking at the differences

Congratulations because you feel younger, losing something is not always negative because you have to start over and start over again like when you were younger.
But if it happens repeatedly I'm afraid this will make us old quickly.
Always smiling will keep us young.

No problem bro, A long time ago I was very close with several Plugins that they took for malicious, but it was not, the problem was always that they exploited a flaw in the code to gain access to WP. But a flaw in the code does not mean that it is malicious code.

It's too hard to say, backdoors, exploits, shells, flaws in the code, eval() functions, encrypted functions, hashed and other more cases
I encrypt a lot of stuff I share on here, mostly watermarks that expose where it actually came from (hence the original post)
I always offer deobfuscated version to moderators and etc.
