Here is a thought for you, create custom-designed t-shirts, mugs, etc also with some pre-made designs, there was a WordPress plugin posted last week that you can connect for customers to choose or customize the designs. I hear people making quite well with the right design selections. I think it was called lumise.

What you said is true — to make money, you need a "community" before a customer. Once you build a loyal, engaged community, you can make a crore of rupees with just one product.
