Here you have update only files and documentation and pay attention to the warning.
Please DO FOLLOW EXACT STEPS for update:
1. Make a full backup of your site including database
2. Follow documentation about updating the files needed
3. copy both "update_functions.php" and "update_database.php" from the folder corresponding to your current version to the root of your site or where the script is installed (in case of subfolder)
4. open a browser (preferably incognito mode so you eliminate already cached version) and point to your site like this:
yoursite.com/update_database.php
or if is installed in a subfolder
yoursite.com/your-folder/update_database.php
5. follow install steps
6. remove both "update_functions.php" and "update_database.php"
7. N-joy!

You did use the version downloaded from the thread from big blue download button right?
If so it's wrong. Read the thread and you'll see there's a perfect working full nulled version posted.
And in the future, before reporting this kind of issue with any scripts you download and install make sure you have read everything from thread and there are no other fixes or solutions posted.

Yes. I downloaded, updated the documentation files and then executed yoursite.com/update_database.php

First of all I hope you did a full back-up of your site.
Second: there's no update from 1.6.1 to 1.6.2 patch, only between minor versions 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 to 1.6
You should have downloaded the full install files and replace yours. I don't know if there are differences at database level as I didn't have a 1.6.1 db version to compare it.

Instead of installing 1.5 and updating why don't you do a fresh install of 1.6.2?
