He is right. I would suggest you to carefully read the rules prior making any request.
It is common sense to say hello when you enter in a room fool of people but the actual hello depends on each one's education.

I come to this forum for files I need. I also provide to those looking. What is my introduction gonna add to that exactly? Ur comparison on entering a room makes less sense since me personally wouldnt say anything to anyone.

It's saying about the person you are. Politeness and common sense are pros not cons.
And if you personally won't say anything to anyone imagine this situation:
In a community there's a meeting in a room. No one knows you.
You enter and take the teapot and you get out without a word.
You come back and get the bread and leave instead some cakes and you get out again without saying a word.
You return and ask: "may I have the butter?"
How's everyone in the room looking at you?
It is the same: we are and trying to build a warm community. What do you expect from the members of this community to say if you come and ask and no one knows a word about you?
We would like to know a few about you, that's how a good reputation is built.
We don't need to know your blood type and shoe size, honestly. But what's your field of expertise and eventually favorite SL/PL would let us know from where to start at the point when you start asking questions about a non-working whatever (script/plugin/theme)
