Here is how it goes, if you decide to get your own mail server and get blacklisted as a spammer, what will happen is your ip and domain reputation will be down the drain which translates into any email coming from you will not accepted by many domains that are using these reputation checkers. So what I am saying is use mailchimp, constant contact, sendgrid etc etc to keep your domains clean. My 2 cents.
