Just wanted to share:
I used WP SMTP Pro until recently, when I discovered Fluent SMTP. It has basically the same functionality as WP SMTP Pro but it is free (and according to the developers, will be forever).
You can get it at https://wordpress.org/plugins/fluent-smtp/
Bonus: it doesn't clutter the main menu and sits under Tools > FluentSMTP instead. I like that.
