The problem are not leave tabs open, but some plugins use too much resources abusing of WordPress REST API that makes even a dedicated server cry.

In your case, I bet that one or more plugin are making your 503 error status.

Are you using WP Media Folder? If so,only disable the plugin and you will see a huge amount of performance restored (if it's the only culprint, of course)
