Anyone has any experience like this?
I got a couple free domains from Yahoo Small Business a few years ago. On one domain in particular I used cloudflare so the dns is managed via cloudflare and the others I simply used A records to point to my server IP addresses. It's been almost 3 years and the domains are still active with no payment record linked to the Yahoo accounts.
The domain that is managed by Cloudflare DNS I can still manage via Cloudflare but the others that are pointed to the A records I can no longer manage them as Yahoo/Verizon has blocked access to the domain panel of all the accounts.
I don't know how long the domains will be available for but its already been 3 years. If I had known I would have pointed all the domains to Cloudflare.
My advise, if you purchase a domain via Yahoo Small Business before the domain expires I would advise you to point your domain to Cloudflare or some other DNS manager and you should have access to the domain even after the expiry date.
